Rahul Gandhi Slams PM Modi in Bihar’s Nalanda: ‘He Has a Habit of Surrendering’

At a rally in Bihar’s Nalanda, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of having a “habit of surrendering” on national issues, intensifying his attack ahead of the Bihar Assembly Elections.

Nalanda: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a sharp political attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi during an election rally in Nalanda — the political bastion of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Speaking at a campaign event ahead of the Bihar Assembly Elections, Rahul accused PM Modi of routinely compromising India’s national interests and submitting to foreign pressure.

“He has a habit of surrendering,” Rahul said, referencing recent foreign policy challenges. “He writes letters of submission within two minutes,” he added, criticising the Prime Minister’s handling of sensitive geopolitical issues, though without naming specific incidents.

The Congress MP’s remarks were part of a broader critique of the BJP-led government’s record, particularly in the context of Bihar, a politically crucial state. Rahul’s rally in Nalanda — traditionally a stronghold of Nitish Kumar, whose JD(U) is allied with the BJP — was aimed at galvanising opposition support.

The speech marks one of the most direct personal attacks by Rahul on PM Modi in the run up to Bihar elections. Gandhi also took the opportunity to reiterate Congress’s promises on jobs and economic reform, aiming to contrast what he called the Prime Minister’s “empty headlines” with what he termed a “real vision for India’s future.”
