Rahul Gandhi To Visit Bihar On April 7, Attend ‘Samvidhan Suraksha Sammellan’ Amid Poll Preparations

Patna: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is set to visit Bihar on April 7 to attend the party’s ‘Samvidhan Suraksha Sammellan (Constitution Security Conference)’ at Shri Krishna Memorial Hall in Patna. This will be his third visit to the state this year, following his previous trips on January 18 and February 5.
The conference aims to highlight key historical events and figures in India’s fight for freedom and social justice, including Mahatma Gandhi’s Salt Satyagraha, the martyrdom of Budhu Nonia and Prajapati Ramchandra Vidyarthi, and the contributions of Babu Jagjivan Ram. The Congress has called upon organisations advocating constitutional security, social justice, and communal harmony to participate, framing the event as a response to what it describes as threats to the Constitution.
In a statement, the party urged people to join what it termed the ‘Samvidhan Suraksha Sammellan’ led by Rahul Gandhi, who it called a ‘Nyay Yoddha (justice warrior)’.
Strengthening Congress Ahead Of Elections
Rahul Gandhi’s visit is seen as a crucial move ahead of the upcoming elections. His previous visits to Bihar were followed by key organisational changes, including the replacement of the state in-charge and state president. A scrutiny committee has now been set up to restructure the party’s district leadership, with Kanhaiya Kumar taking an active role in preparations for the assembly elections.
During a recent meeting with Bihar Congress leaders in Delhi, Rahul Gandhi reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with some leaders for delivering lengthy speeches without addressing key concerns. The presence of only five backward caste leaders and one from the extremely backward caste in the meeting was also flagged, with Rahul pushing for better representation—something that is expected to influence the selection of district presidents.
Congress has often been accused of allowing RJD chief Lalu Prasad to influence its affairs in Bihar. According to party sources, Gandhi is keen on asserting Congress’s independent identity within the Mahagathbandhan. While the party intends to remain in the alliance, certain aspects of its electoral strategy remain undecided.
