Hajipur: Satish Kumar, Chairman and CEO of the Railway Board, inspected Muzaffarpur Junction on the second day of his two-day visit to the East Central Railway. During his inspection, Kumar evaluated passenger amenities, cleanliness, and security at Muzaffarpur Junction, reviewing facilities such as platforms, foot over bridges, and the circulating area. He also assessed the passenger holding area, which was prepared to accommodate travellers during the busy Chhath Puja season, to ensure that the facilities were adequate and well-maintained.

As part of his visit, Kumar reviewed the redevelopment work underway at Muzaffarpur Junction under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. He examined a 3D model of the redevelopment plans and discussed project progress with East Central Railway officials, urging them to maintain high construction quality within the set timelines. Present during the inspection were East Central Railway General Manager Chhatrasal Singh, Divisional Railway Manager of Sonpur Division Vivek Bhushan Sood, and other senior officials from the headquarters and Sonpur Division.

On the previous night, November 12, Kumar inspected Samastipur station, focusing on the passenger facilities available there. He also examined safety-related aspects, such as the condition of railway tracks and points, and reviewed safety measures with railway workers in the running room and crew lobby. To ensure that workers were well-prepared, Kumar tested their safety knowledge and protocols.

The passenger holding area at Samastipur, also built to ease congestion after Chhath Puja, was among the facilities he evaluated, with Kumar gathering direct feedback from passengers about their experiences. General Manager Chhatrasal Singh and Divisional Railway Manager of Samastipur Division Vinay Srivastava accompanied him throughout this inspection.

This visit underscores the Railway Board’s ongoing commitment to enhancing passenger facilities and ensuring rigorous safety standards at key railway stations in Bihar.
