Railways Revise Operations of Two Key Trains in North-East Zone Amid Summer Travel Rush

Chhapra/Patna: The Northeast Railway has announced significant operational changes to two major trains to manage increasing passenger demand during the summer travel season. The Chhapra–Mathura Superfast Express will run on a revised route, while the Saharsa–Anand Vihar Terminal Garib Rath Express will increase its frequency to five days a week.

The rerouted Chhapra–Mathura Superfast Express is set to operate on select dates in April and early May. Departing Chhapra at 5:25 a.m., the train will now travel via Siwan, Bhatni, and Aurihar before reaching Varanasi. From there, it will proceed to Mathura via Banaras, Prayagraj Junction, and Kanpur Central. The new route will be in effect on April 16, 18, 21, 23, 25, 28, 30, and May 2.

Ashok Kumar, Public Relations Officer for Northern Railway, stated the changes aim to ease congestion and improve crowd management during peak travel periods.

Garib Rath to run five days a week

In another major update, the Saharsa–Anand Vihar Terminal Garib Rath Express (Train Nos. 05577/05578) will operate on an expanded schedule. From April 11 to May 14, the train will run from Saharsa every day except Thursdays and Saturdays. On the return leg, it will depart Anand Vihar Terminal from April 13 to May 16, excluding Saturdays and Mondays. In total, 25 trips have been scheduled during this period.

The Indian Railways has urged passengers to check train timings, routes, and service dates in advance, either through the official website or helpline. Travellers are also advised to book tickets early and adhere to any remaining health and safety guidelines during their journey.
