Patna: The Meteorological Department has issued a rain and lightning alert for five districts in Bihar today, while the rest of the state will experience dry weather. Alongside this, a slight increase in maximum temperature, ranging between 1 to 2 degrees Celsius, is expected in several districts.

Begusarai emerged as the hottest district over the past 24 hours, recording a maximum temperature of 36.5°C. In comparison, Patna’s maximum temperature was recorded at 33.4°C.

According to the Meteorological Department, the monsoon remains active in certain parts of the state due to easterly winds. This activity may lead to sporadic rain and cloudy conditions in some areas. However, the withdrawal of the monsoon has already begun in parts of Bihar, including Gopalganj, Siwan, Buxar, Ara, Aurangabad, Rohtas, and Kaimur. Experts predict that the monsoon will completely exit the state within the next three to four days.

In Patna, sunshine is expected throughout the day, resulting in a slight increase in temperature, causing mild discomfort. However, by the evening, cloud cover driven by easterly winds will bring some relief. The night temperature is likely to decrease as these winds continue to flow.

Bihar has experienced 20% less rainfall since June 1, with several districts in the plains of the Ganga river particularly affected. Saran has recorded 53% less rainfall, Vaishali 49%, Muzaffarpur 46%, and Samastipur 44% less rainfall. The lack of adequate rainfall has raised concerns over agricultural productivity and water availability in these regions.
