Patna: The Patna meteorological centre has issued a warning of thunderstorms, rain, and strong surface winds for 19 districts of Bihar on Sunday, with wind speeds expected to reach between 30 and 40 km/h.
In the state capital, weather conditions are forecast to shift after Sunday afternoon, with the possibility of light rain and thunder by evening or night. Skies over Patna are expected to remain partly cloudy, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
Despite the forecast of rain, temperatures in Patna have been on the rise, with the maximum temperature climbing by 2.1°C and the minimum by 4.1°C. On Saturday, the city recorded a maximum of 36.1°C. Daytime heat persisted across much of the state, driven by strong sunlight and high humidity.
The IMD has ruled out any significant changes in the maximum and minimum temperatures over the next three to four days.
In North Bihar, light clouds are expected over the next few days, with moderate cloud cover around May 4–5. This may bring isolated thunderstorms and light rain to several districts. Daytime temperatures are forecast to remain between 34°C and 36°C, with nighttime lows ranging from 22°C to 25°C.
Surface wind speeds may increase slightly around May 5, and relative humidity is expected to be between 75–85% in the morning and 35–45% in the afternoon. A marginal dip in temperature is likely to bring brief relief from the heat.
However, according to the IMD, temperatures are expected to rise again across Bihar from May 8 onwards.
