Rainy Respite from Heat Likely in Bihar from Tomorrow, Says IMD

Patna: As large parts of Bihar continue to endure an intense heatwave, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert forecasting thunderstorms and rainfall across the state between June 11 and 15. The change is expected to bring much-needed respite to residents suffering under prolonged high temperatures.

Over the past few days, temperatures in several districts have consistently crossed 40°C. On Tuesday, the hot westerly winds intensified the heat, prompting IMD to warn of heatwave conditions in multiple regions. However, the department now predicts a shift in weather patterns, raising hopes for cooler days ahead.

The monsoon has yet to officially enter Bihar. It currently remains stalled along the Bengal-Bihar border. Unstable wind patterns, including strong westerlies and occasional northern breezes, have disrupted the usual monsoonal flow, potentially delaying its traditional arrival time in the state.

Despite the monsoon’s delay, changing atmospheric conditions are likely to trigger isolated thunderstorms and rainfall in the coming days. According to IMD, this period may also witness lightning strikes and gusty winds across several districts, prompting authorities to issue public warnings and advisories.
