Rajendra Nagar Station Raid: Commercial Tax Department Seizes Goods Without Proper Documentation

Patna, 5th November 2023: The Commercial Tax Department initiated a crackdown on businessmen and leaseholders involved in ordering goods through Vehicle Parcel (VP) at Rajendra Nagar Railway Station. The operation, conducted on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 8 am, targeted those transporting goods without the necessary e-way bills or documents.

A joint team, comprising officers from the Investigation Bureau, Patna Eastern and Western Divisions, spearheaded the action, focusing on the VP of Sampoorna Kranti Express (Train No. 12394, New Delhi to Rajendra Nagar Terminal).

During the investigation, 282 bundled goods were released at the station with valid documents, while 224 bundled goods were seized due to discrepancies found in the absence of proper documentation. The seized items primarily included mobile accessories and readymade clothes.

The Departmental Commissioner stated that legal action would be taken against the seized goods, and penalties would be imposed.

Continuing their vigilant efforts, the Commercial Tax Department revealed that during a similar operation at Samastipur Railway Station on November 1, 2023, at 9 am, 213 bundles of illegally transported readymade clothes were detected in the parcel bogie of Howrah-Jayanagar Express (Train No. 13031). The department is currently pursuing legal actions to recover penalties in this case.

The Departmental Commissioner emphasized that the department is actively monitoring vehicles, transporters, businessmen, and leaseholders involved in transporting goods through VP without proper e-way bills or documentation. The department’s actions against such practices will persist in the future.
