Rajgir Gears Up for Annual Festival from December 21 to 23
Rajgir: Preparations for the much-anticipated Rajgir Festival, set to take place from 21 to 23 December, are in full swing, with District Magistrate Shashank Shubhankar issuing detailed guidelines to officials to ensure the event’s success.
The main events will be held at the Rajgir International Convention Centre (RICC) and the Hockey Ground, as in previous years. The festival will feature an array of cultural programs, exhibitions, an agricultural fair, a food festival, a women’s festival, and other attractions.
During a comprehensive review meeting, the District Magistrate addressed key arrangements, including law and order, security measures, venue preparation, lighting, publicity, and logistics for various festival activities. Topics discussed ranged from the organization of cultural programs, exhibitions, and stalls to sanitation, drinking water, and public facilities. Plans for a goodwill march, tonga and palanquin decorations, street plays, parking arrangements, traffic management, medical services, and road repairs were also outlined.
Additionally, a competition for decorating private houses, hotels, and other buildings has been announced, alongside initiatives to highlight the area’s cultural and historical significance. The festival will include a “Sarva Dharma Mangalacharan” (universal prayer) and conclude with a prize distribution ceremony.
The District Magistrate emphasized the importance of flawless execution, instructing officials to ensure a smooth experience for attendees. “All necessary arrangements must be in place so visitors face no inconvenience,” he said.
The Rajgir Festival aims to promote tourism in the historic town of Rajgir and provide a platform for local artists to showcase their talent. It also serves as an opportunity to celebrate and preserve the region’s rich cultural heritage.
