Restoration and Lining Work on Tirhut Main Canal to Boost Irrigation in Muzaffarpur

Patna: The Water Resources Department is fast-tracking the restoration and lining work along a crucial stretch of the Tirhut Main Canal. Spanning from 214.68 km to 223.11 km, the project aims to address ongoing issues of silt accumulation and improve water flow within the canal.
Once completed, the lining of this stretch will significantly reduce the silt build-up on the canal bed, leading to increased water flow. This enhanced flow will ensure a steady supply of water for the canal’s lower sections, improving the distribution system and irrigation facilities across the region.
The benefits of the project will extend to the farmers in the Marwan, Kudhni, and Mushahari blocks of Muzaffarpur district, where the improved irrigation infrastructure is expected to boost agricultural productivity. With reliable access to water, the restoration and lining work is poised to enhance both the income and living standards of local farmers.
