Review Meeting Held on Irrigation and Flood Projects Announced During Bihar CM Nitish Kumar’s Pragati Yatra

Patna: Senior officials of Bihar’s Water Resources Department (WRD) reviewed the progress of key irrigation and flood control projects on Thursday, following announcements made by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during his Pragati Yatra. The meeting, chaired by Principal Secretary Santosh Kumar Mall, was attended by senior WRD officials, with chief engineers and executive engineers joining via video conferencing.

According to the department, 19 irrigation projects and 27 flood management schemes across various districts have received administrative approval. Reviewing the progress, Mall directed officials to prioritise timely completion of the schemes and ensure all necessary processes, including tender publication and execution, are completed within set deadlines.

Emphasising a time-bound approach, he instructed officials to expedite land acquisition for projects requiring additional land and secure no-objection certificates from relevant departments at the earliest. He also called for inter-state coordination to address any pending approvals for joint projects with neighbouring states.

“All concerned officers must ensure that the schemes in their respective areas are implemented within the stipulated timeframe,” Mall said, underscoring the government’s commitment to strengthening Bihar’s water infrastructure.
