Patna : Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad is set to be flown to Delhi for medical treatment as his health has been deteriorating for the past two days. Reports indicate that his blood sugar levels have increased, worsening pain from an old wound.
Doctors treating Lalu Prasad at his residence in Patna have advised shifting him to Delhi for better medical care. Arrangements are being made to transport him via air ambulance at 2 pm on Wednesday.
Recent Public Appearance
Despite his fragile health, the 76-year-old leader had joined a protest against the Waqf Amendment Bill in Gardanibagh, Patna, on March 26, alongside his son Tejashwi Yadav. Addressing the gathering, he criticized the bill and the Bihar government, stating, “Something wrong is happening. The government should look into it. We are against it. No one will face injustice.”
Medical History: Multiple Surgeries in a Decade
Lalu Prasad has undergone three major surgeries in the past ten years:
2024: Angioplasty at Mumbai’s Asian Heart Hospital, where he was fitted with a stent.
2022: Kidney transplant in Singapore, with his daughter Rohini Acharya donating a kidney.
2014: Open-heart surgery to replace his aortic valve and repair a heart defect.
Since his kidney transplant, Lalu Prasad has had to follow strict medical guidelines, though he continues to remain politically active.
