RK Singh Alleges BJP Leaders Backed Pawan Singh in Last Lok Sabha Polls, Claims Conspiracy Behind His Election Defeat

Ara/ Patna: Former Union minister and BJP leader RK Singh has alleged that members of his own party conspired to ensure his defeat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Singh, who previously represented the Ara constituency, accused BJP leaders of financially backing Bhojpuri actor and singer Pawan Singh to contest as an independent candidate from the Karakat seat.
In a video that surfaced on Wednesday, Singh claimed, “Pawan Singh was not at fault. It was BJP leaders who made him contest the elections. Some people within the party worked against me and ensured my defeat.” The remarks were reportedly made during an event in the Tarari block of Bihar’s Bhojpur district.
Singh further alleged that Pawan Singh was initially considered for a BJP ticket from Asansol, but after controversy over his songs, the party suggested he contest from another constituency. When the BJP ultimately did not field him, Singh said, “Some people from our own party encouraged him to stand as an independent.” He claimed this move divided Kushwaha and Rajput votes in Karakat, leading to Upendra Kushwaha’s loss.

The former MP also suggested that BJP’s senior leadership could have prevented Pawan Singh from running. “If the top leadership had firmly told Pawan Singh not to contest, he would not have. But they didn’t, and the result was my defeat,” he said.
Singh vowed to reveal the names of those involved in the alleged conspiracy once he gathers evidence. “Some leaders in Bihar didn’t want me to win. Money was distributed, and polling agents were absent from 60% of our booths. But 4.75 lakh people still voted for me. I know who the conspirators are, and I will not let them go unchallenged.”
He added: “If these conspirators get tickets in 2025, I will stand against them.”
