Robbers Stop Purvanchal Express in Bihar and Loot Passengers for 25 Minutes

Passengers on Purvanchal Express were left helpless for nearly half an hour as criminals looted cash and phones near Dholi station in Bihar

Muzaffarpur: Passengers travelling on the Purvanchal Express had a frightening night when a group of criminals stopped their train and robbed them. The train was going from Howrah to Gorakhpur when the robbers pulled the emergency chain near Dholi station in Bihar’s Samastipur-Muzaffarpur section at around 3am on Saturday.

Four to five men went from coach to coach, stealing cash from many passengers and snatching mobile phones from at least two people. Before the passengers could come together to stop them, the criminals jumped off the train and escaped into the dark.

When the train reached Muzaffarpur, the victims went to complain to the railway police, but they were scolded and chased away. Some passengers later complained through Rail Madad and also informed the Police Headquarters about what happened.

Railway SP Veena Kumari has formed a special team to investigate the case. She has also asked Railway Thanedaar Ranjit Kumar for an explanation. Passengers said no security staff came for 25 minutes while the robbers were on the train, and their written complaints were not accepted at the station.
