Rohini Acharya Begins Preparations for Lok Sabha Elections with Sonepur Temple Visit
Sonepur: Rohini Acharya, daughter of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad, has commenced her preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections with a spiritual sojourn. Ahead of her anticipated foray into the electoral arena, she sought solace in prayer at the Baba Hariharnath temple in Sonepur on Monday, accompanied by her father Lalu, mother Rabri Devi, and sister Misa Bharti.
The political landscape in Bihar is abuzz with reports of two daughters from the Lalu family eyeing candidacies in the upcoming elections. While Lalu has entrusted the electoral symbol to Misa Bharti for the Pataliputra constituency, Rohini Acharya is gearing up to contest from the Saran Lok Sabha seat, as per her ongoing preparations.
Rohini Acharya herself divulged this information via social media, initially sharing her visit to the Hariharnath temple in Sonepur. Additionally, she hinted at a forthcoming public interaction campaign slated for Tuesday in Saran.
Although an official announcement regarding Rohini Acharya’s candidacy is pending, speculations are rife about her decision to enter the electoral fray from the Saran constituency. Notably, Saran holds significance for the Lalu family, as it was the seat from which Lalu contested his last election. Rohini Acharya, who has previously donated a kidney to her father, is now poised to embark on her maiden election campaign.
The Lalu family’s affinity towards the Baba Hariharnath temple in Sonepur is well-known, with several instances of familial worship documented over the years. Temple priest Sadanand Pandey recalled Lalu’s longstanding association with the temple, dating back to the days of the JP movement. He recounted how Lalu’s election rituals, including nomination filing and worship at the temple, were intertwined with his electoral victories, cementing his bond with the place.
The temple premises have also witnessed significant family events, including the Mundan Sanskar ceremonies of Lalu’s sons, Tej Pratap Yadav and Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, further underscoring the familial connection to the sacred site in Sonpur.
