Patna : The Bihar Police has begun constructing barracks for women police personnel across nine districts to improve their working conditions and accommodation. This move aims to support the growing number of women in the force by providing them with dedicated living spaces within police stations and lines.
A total of 116 police stations and outposts will have new barracks for women officers. Additionally, large-capacity barracks, accommodating between 200 and 500 personnel, are being built in the police lines of Rohtas, Kaimur, Bhojpur, Arwal, and Siwan districts. These districts will also see the construction of ten parking garage sheds and washing pits for police vehicle maintenance.
Expanding Infrastructure for Women Officers
The Rohtas district’s Dehri Police Line will feature a G+5 barrack designed to house 500 women constables, with an estimated cost of Rs18.42 crore. Kaimur’s Bhabhua Police Line, as well as the police lines in Arwal and Siwan, will each have barracks with a capacity of 300 personnel. In Bhojpur’s Ara Police Line, a 200-capacity barrack is being developed.
In Patna’s Bihta area, a combined railway station and police barrack is planned. Several police stations, including those in Danapur, Shahpur, Bakhtiyarpur, Shastrinagar, and Kotwali, will each get 20-capacity women’s barracks, while smaller units will be built at stations like Maner, Punpun, and Parsa Bazar.
Modernising Police Stations
Beyond barracks, Bihar is also upgrading its police station infrastructure. New model police station buildings are under construction in Patna’s Srikrishnapuri, Gopalpur, and Beur areas.
