Saharsa in Red Zone with AQI at 379; Cold Wave Likely to Begin Soon

Reflective Tape Campaign Launched to Reduce Road Accidents in Fog

Patna: Air quality in Bihar has significantly deteriorated over the past several days, with Saharsa recording the worst AQI at 379, placing it in the red zone. The Meteorological Centre has released air quality data for 13 districts, highlighting the alarming rise in pollution levels across the state.

While the weather remains stable for now, significant changes are expected starting Saturday due to the arrival of a new western disturbance. This system is likely to affect both hilly and plain regions, causing a drop in minimum temperatures. Strong winds, forecasted from November 16, are expected to intensify the cold wave, further impacting daily life.

Morning fog is predicted in several districts, including East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria, and Kishanganj. Currently, maximum temperatures across the state range between 30 and 32 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures in southeastern, northeastern, and north-central Bihar hover between 20 and 22 degrees.

In the last 24 hours, Gaya and Bhojpur recorded the highest maximum temperatures in the state, according to data for 16 districts. Meanwhile, Rohtas and Motihari experienced the lowest minimum temperatures, as per updates provided for 14 districts. The upcoming weather changes are expected to bring some relief from pollution but will also lead to an increase in cold conditions statewide.
