Sanjha Utsav Fair Brings Music, Food, and Culture to Marine Drive in Patna

Patna: The Sanjha Utsav fair, organized by the Patna Municipal Corporation, has transformed Ghat Number 93 in Digha into a hub of cultural and culinary delight. Inaugurated on Thursday, the fair offers evenings filled with songs, music, and delicious food on the banks of the Ganga amidst the mild winter chill. The fair will continue until December 31, providing residents with a chance to experience the rich heritage and diversity of Bihar.

Urban Development Minister Nitin Nabin, along with MLAs Sanjiv Chourasia and Arun Sinha, inaugurated the event. Deputy Mayor Reshmi Kumari and Municipal Commissioner Animesh Kumar Parashar were also present. The fair features an exhibition of handmade products and artworks by local artisans, primarily women from self-help groups. A free cultural platform has been set up to showcase the talents of Patna’s artists.

The Municipal Commissioner encouraged entrepreneurs running the 70 stalls at the fair, highlighting the corporation’s efforts to provide employment opportunities for urban women. Guests visited the stalls and interacted with women entrepreneurs and artisans. The fair also includes a food court, activity zone, selfie zone, and bonfire arrangements for visitors and municipal employees.

Local artists have been given an open stage to perform songs, music, dance, comedy, and other arts. The initiative aims to provide a platform for emerging talent while fostering a vibrant cultural atmosphere.

Urban Development Minister Nitin Nabin emphasized that such fairs not only promote entrepreneurship but also provide artisans with valuable exposure. He announced plans to develop a new riverfront along a two-and-a-half-kilometer stretch of the Ganga, turning the area into a systematic and well-equipped picnic hub. MLA Sanjeev Chourasia, who had requested this development, confirmed that the project’s DPR (Detailed Project Report) will be prepared soon, ensuring enhanced recreational facilities for city residents.
