Severe Heatwave Continues to Grip Bihar, Coaching Institutes Ordered Closed in Patna
Patna: The oppressive heatwave persisted across Bihar on Wednesday, with 15 locations officially under heatwave conditions and three—Sheikhpura, Bhojpur, and Arwal—experiencing severe heatwave. Aurangabad recorded the highest temperature in the state, soaring to 44.9°C, while Patna reached 42.2°C.
The Patna Meteorological Centre has issued an orange and yellow alert for heatwave conditions, expected to continue unabated until June 15. In response to the extreme heat, the Patna District Magistrate ordered all coaching institutes in Patna to remain closed until June 15. This directive was issued by District Magistrate Shirsat Kapil Ashok on Wednesday, following the India Meteorological Department’s forecast that the heatwave would persist until June 15.
Additionally, the Education Department has declared holidays for all schools until June 15. Educational activities in coaching institutes across Patna district have been suspended during this period. However, office work within these institutes is permitted, and classes may continue online to ensure students’ safety and comfort during the severe weather conditions.
With no immediate relief in sight, the residents of Bihar are advised to take necessary precautions to protect themselves from the intense heat and its effects.
