Shilpa Shetty Faces Legal Action Over Major Traffic Jam in Muzaffarpur
Muzaffarpur: A complaint has been filed against Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty in the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court in Muzaffarpur on Tuesday. The complaint also names Muzaffarpur District Magistrate Subrata Sen, Kalyan Jewelers’ Managing Director Kalyan Raman, and Executive Director Ramesh Kalyan.
The controversy arose after Shetty’s attendance at the inauguration of Kalyan Jewelers on Sunday evening, which reportedly caused significant traffic congestion in the Kalambagh area. Advocate Sudhir Kumar Ojha filed the complaint in the CJM court, citing that the road was jammed for hours due to the private event, resulting in inconvenience for local residents. The hearing for the case is scheduled for November 11.
According to Ojha, the inauguration at Kalambagh Chowk attracted a large crowd, leading to a clash on both sides of the road and considerable disruption for the public. He criticized the district administration for granting permission for the event, questioning their judgment as traffic signals were also reportedly closed during this time, further exacerbating the situation.
The complaint alleges negligence on the part of the organizers, resulting in the busiest road in the city being blocked for two hours. Legal action has been initiated against Shetty, the owner of Kalyan Jewelers, the Muzaffarpur DM, and the jewelry store owner under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including sections 223, 189 (6), 189 (7), 190, 191 (1), 61 (1), 198, 199 (B, C), 272, and 280.
Before Shetty’s arrival, a significant security presence was noted, including personnel from Kazimohmadpur police stations, numerous traffic police officers, and a Quick Response Team (QRT). Additionally, Shetty’s personal bouncers were deployed for her protection. Despite the traffic disruptions, the crowd continued to swell, eager to catch a glimpse of the actress.
During her appearance, Shetty expressed her gratitude to her fans, stating she would always cherish the love from Muzaffarpur before departing.
