Patna: Bihar Energy Minister Bijendra Yadav inaugurated Bihar Solar Show aimed at showcasing the state’s commitment to renewable energy initiatives. The event, organized at Vidyut Bhawan by the Energy Department and the Indian Chamber of Commerce, underscored Bihar’s burgeoning potential in the energy sector.

Punjab National Bank, Union Bank, Concor, Solar Energy Corporation of India, BD Gensol Group, Husk Power System, Bluebird Solar, South Asia Jinko Solar, Surya International Limited, and Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited participated in the Bihar Solar Show.

Addressing attendees, Minister Bijendra Yadav emphasized the vast opportunities within Bihar’s energy landscape, asserting that development hinges upon robust energy infrastructure. With the state basking in ample sunlight for approximately 325 days a year, Yadav underscored the potential for harnessing solar power as a key driver of progress. Against the backdrop of global climate concerns, he pledged government support to investors venturing into solar energy ventures.

Sandeep Poundrik, Additional Chief Secretary of the Industries Department, lauded the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Minister Bijendra Yadav for propelling Bihar’s energy agenda forward. Poundrik highlighted the government’s commitment to facilitating industrial growth through streamlined processes, exemplified by the single window system aimed at expediting industry setup procedures.

Sanjeev Hans, Principal Secretary of the energy department, outlined ambitious plans under the Jal Jeevan Hariyali Abhiyan to install rooftop solar panels on government buildings, aiming to generate 1000 MW of solar energy at a cost of Rs 4600 crore within the next two to three years. Additionally, plans are underway to install one lakh solar streetlights under the Chief Minister Rural Solar Street Light Scheme, and to solarize feeder levels under the Agriculture Road Map 4, amounting to a total investment of Rs 7,000 crore. Further initiatives include the establishment of 250 MW solar power plants near canals and the formulation of renewable energy policies, collectively valued at Rs 23,824 crore.

The exhibition serves as a platform to showcase Bihar’s commitment to green energy initiatives and to attract investment in sustainable energy projects, aligning with broader national and global efforts towards a greener future.
