Munger/Patna: Former IPS officer Shivdeep Lande made a triumphant return to Munger on Monday, marking his first visit since resigning as Inspector General (IG). Embarking on a two-day tour, Lande led the ‘Run for Self’ initiative—a 10-kilometre run aimed at inspiring youth towards self-empowerment, fitness, and positive social change.
The event, which began at Jubileewell Chowk in Jamalpur on Tuesday morning, saw an overwhelming response, with hundreds of young participants joining him. The run covered several key areas, including Safiabad, Chhota Mirzapur, Sandalpur, Konark Mod, Kauda Maidan, and Bhagat Singh Chowk, before concluding at Munger’s Polo Ground. Throughout the route, Lande engaged with participants, motivating them to embrace fitness and self-improvement. He was accompanied by his wife and daughter, further emphasising the role of family in this mission.
A Homecoming for Lande
For Lande, Munger holds deep personal significance—it was here that he began his career as a trainee IPS officer. Upon entering the district, he received a rousing welcome from supporters, reflecting his enduring popularity. During his visit, he also explored several historical sites with his family.
Speaking to reporters after the event, Lande explained that ‘Run for Self’ was more than just a fitness drive—it was a movement for transformation.
“This is not merely about physical fitness; it is about self-empowerment. Through positive change within ourselves, we can uplift our families, society, our state, and ultimately the country,” he said.
Expressing confidence in his mission, he asserted that Bihar was ready for a new era of progress. He also revealed plans to expand the initiative across other districts in the future.
No Political Ambitions—For Now
When asked about the possibility of entering politics, Lande categorically denied any immediate plans to contest elections. His current focus, he said, was on engaging with the youth and understanding their aspirations rather than making political declarations.
“I have taken an oath to change the direction and destiny of Bihar over the next 10 years,” he said. “My goal is to ignite a fire in Bihar’s youth. A fit youth leads to a fit family, a fit society, and ultimately, a stronger nation.”
