Six-Day Art Workshop Begins in Patna, Promotes Traditional and Modern Art Forms
Patna: A six-day art workshop organized by the Department of Arts, Culture, and Youth, Government of Bihar, commenced at Bihar Lalit Kala Academy, Patna. The workshop saw enthusiastic participation from 96 students representing various schools in Patna. The initiative focuses on training students in art forms like cartoon making, mandala painting, and Madhubani art.
Participants were provided with free stationery and snacks, ensuring a conducive learning environment. The primary goal of the workshop is to acquaint students with Bihar’s traditional and modern art styles, encouraging creativity and cultural appreciation. Trainers highlighted that such activities boost confidence and foster a deeper cultural connection among young learners.
National honoree Neerad guided the students on creating facial structures and expressions in paintings, helping them master the skill of bringing their art to life. Simi Kumari, a national award winner in Mandala art, explained the meditative essence and historical significance of Mandala painting, tracing its origins to the Buddha period in Bihar. Participants learned about the repetitive design elements that mirror meditation techniques.
National award-winning Madhubani artist Vibha Lal Das introduced students to the history of Madhubani art, teaching them to depict small animals like birds through intricate designs. Cartoonist Pawan from Hindustan newspaper trained the participants to read and translate facial expressions into simple yet impactful cartoons.
The workshop, designed to refine the artistic abilities of the students, will continue for the next five days, with more specialized training sessions planned.
