Darbhanga/Patna: Vibhuti Kumar Yadav, son of newly re-elected BJP MP Ashok Yadav from Madhubani, has gone missing from his residence in Laheriasarai, Darbhanga, sparking a high-profile search operation by the Bihar Police.
According to the family, Vibhuti, a law student in Delhi, left his home in Bengali Tola around 8am on Sunday without his mobile phone and has not returned since. A missing person’s complaint has been lodged at Laheriasarai police station, and a formal investigation is underway.
Police officials confirmed they have begun a search for the MP’s son, who had returned to Bihar a few days ago during his academic break. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance have raised concern, especially given that he reportedly left without informing anyone and did not take his phone with him.
Given the political background of the family, the case has drawn significant attention. Vibhuti’s grandfather, veteran BJP leader Hukmdev Narayan Yadav, has been a multiple-term MP and was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2019 for his contributions to public life. Ashok Yadav, his father, previously served two terms as MLA from Kewati and was recently elected to the Lok Sabha from Madhubani for the second time.
Police said they are treating the case with urgency. “We are reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding areas and have begun questioning those close to the family,” said a senior officer.
