Patna: Class 12 science students from St Karen’s High School, Patna, visited the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna on Wednesday as part of an educational initiative designed to bridge classroom learning with real-world scientific research.
The visit, undertaken under the guidance of Principal Seema Singh, aimed to introduce students from the Physics-Chemistry-Mathematics (PCM) stream to the academic environment and technological advancements at one of India’s premier engineering institutes.
Accompanied by faculty members Kumari Anupam Jha, Dr P C Das, and Tahseen Akhtar, the students were received by Dr Ajay Kumar Yadav, professor at the Mechanical Engineering Department. The tour began with an orientation session followed by a guided walk across the 501-acre Bihta campus, which is known for its eco-friendly infrastructure and cutting-edge laboratories.
Students explored several departments, including Physics, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering, where faculty members demonstrated advanced equipment and shared insights into ongoing research and real-life applications of school-level science.
Micheal P. Nayagam, the Plus Two in-charge at St Karen’s High School, said such visits help students make meaningful connections between theory and practice. “We organise educational trips for Classes 11 and 12 so that students can think beyond textbooks and consider future careers in science and technology,” he said.
