Steering Committee Meeting Held for Sports Building-cum-Gymnasium under CM Sports Development Scheme
Patna: A meeting of the Steering Committee for the Sports Building-cum-Gymnasium constructed in Patna under the Chief Minister Sports Development Scheme was held on Friday, 27 December 2024, at the Collectorate Assembly Hall. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, IAS, District Officer, Patna.
During the meeting, the District Officer informed that the facility will offer training for various recognized indoor sports including Taekwondo, Wrestling, Wushu, Fencing, Kabaddi, Table Tennis, Yoga, Aerobics, and Weightlifting, along with a Multigym. The selection of players for these sports will be conducted by the District Sports Officer, Patna, following the guidelines of the Bihar Sports Department. Trainees will be provided coaching under expert trainers, with a fixed monthly fee for participation.
Further, the District Officer directed the District Education Officer, Patna, to widely publicize the availability of the facility in nearby schools and educational institutions. Additionally, the Executive Officer of the Patna Municipal Corporation, Bankipur Zone, was instructed to install an RO water system to ensure clean drinking water for the players. The Civil Surgeon, Patna, was tasked with sending a medical team to conduct health check-ups for all trainees at the facility.
The meeting also saw discussions regarding the condition of the building, with the Executive Engineer of Bihar State Building Construction Corporation Limited, Patna, being asked to inspect and complete any necessary repairs within a week. The District Magistrate, Patna, assured that a request would be made to the Sports Department for the smooth operation of the Sports Building-cum-Gymnasium and for the installation of required equipment. Members of the Steering Committee, including senior officials from various departments, attended the meeting.
