Strict Security Measures in Bihar for Upcoming Festivals to Maintain Communal Harmony

Patna: The state administration has taken strong measures to ensure communal harmony and law and order during the upcoming festivals of Eid, Chaiti Navratri, Chaiti Chhath, and Ram Navami. The Police Headquarters has deployed state and central forces across Bihar to prevent any disturbances. Any attempt to incite violence or hurt religious sentiments will be met with strict action. Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Pankaj Kumar Darad and Additional Director General of Police (Headquarters) Kundan Krishnan provided details in a joint press conference.

Taking lessons from last year’s incidents of violence during Ram Navami processions, the administration has deployed 12 companies of Central Paramilitary Forces, including two companies of Rapid Action Force, along with state police and home guard personnel undergoing training. A crackdown on miscreants has begun across all 40 police districts. Special attention is being given to religious processions and tableaux, ensuring they follow designated routes. DJs exceeding the prescribed volume will face immediate action, and police will monitor the songs played to prevent any offensive content.

Individuals involved in past incidents of violence are being called to police stations and made to sign bonds to maintain peace. The administration has identified sensitive areas where disturbances occurred during previous festivals, deploying magistrates, DSP-level officers, and Central Rapid Action Force personnel. A Central Quick Response Team, equipped with helmets, body protectors, tear gas shells, and modern weapons, will be stationed in these areas. Special security arrangements have been made in districts such as Gaya, Nalanda, Darbhanga, Samastipur, Munger, Khagaria, and Rohtas, where violence was reported last year.

On Eid, namaz will only be allowed at locations approved by the administration, with prior permission required. State DGP Vinay Kumar has instructed district SPs to set up 24-hour control rooms in all districts, ensuring the presence of fire vehicles, ambulances, and electricity department personnel. Police stations across the state will remain on continuous patrol to prevent any untoward incidents during the festive period.
