Suman Kumar of Bihar Achieves Rare 10-Wicket Haul in Cooch Bihar Trophy

Patna: Suman Kumar, a talented bowler from Samastipur, Bihar, has etched his name in cricket history by claiming all ten wickets, including a hat-trick, in an innings during the Cooch Bihar Trophy Under-19 Men’s Cricket Tournament against Rajasthan. This remarkable achievement adds to his impressive tally of 22 wickets in the ongoing season, underscoring his exceptional talent.
The match, held at the Moinul Haque Stadium, saw Rajasthan bowled out for just 182 runs in their first innings, with Suman delivering a brilliant spell of 33.5 overs. He conceded just 53 runs, bowled 20 maiden overs, and took all ten wickets, leaving a lasting impact on the game. Bihar responded with a commanding total of 467 runs, gaining a significant 285-run lead. Rajasthan, in their second innings, ended the third day at 173 for two wickets, still trailing Bihar.
Suman’s hat-trick came in the 36th over, when he dismissed Mohit Bhagtani, Anas, and Sachin Sharma in quick succession. He continued to dominate, breaking a crucial 54-run partnership between Jatin and Abhas Shrimali. Suman completed his 10-wicket haul by removing Gulab Singh, leaving Rajasthan struggling to recover.
In Rajasthan’s second innings, Bihar’s Aditya Raj also made a notable contribution by claiming two early wickets for 47 runs. At stumps, Rajasthan’s score stood at 173 for two, with Parth Yadav (83) and captain Toshit (52) resisting the onslaught in a bid to narrow Bihar’s 112-run lead.
Suman Kumar’s historic performance has not only brought pride to Bihar cricket but also set a new benchmark in the Cooch Bihar Trophy, showcasing the state’s rising cricketing talent.
