Teacher Shot Dead in Darbhanga; Police Launch Probe to Identify Killers

Darbhanga: A 55-year-old school teacher was shot dead by unidentified bike-borne assailants on Wednesday morning in the Singhwada police station area of Darbhanga district.
The victim, Mansoor Alam, an Urdu teacher at the government primary school in Rasulpur Nista, was on his way to school on a bicycle when he was attacked on the Bharwada-Kamataul road. Originally a resident of Parsauni village under the Bisfi police station in Madhubani district, Alam had been living in a rented house in Bharwada’s Shankarpur locality.
According to eyewitnesses, two bullets were fired at Alam—one hitting his head and the other his shoulder—causing him to collapse on the road with his bicycle. The assailants fled the scene immediately after the shooting.
Following the incident, local residents rushed to the spot, and the police soon arrived to begin an investigation. Sadar-2 SDPO Jyoti Kumari said that a probe is underway and assured that the case would be cracked soon. “We are verifying all possible angles and have started questioning people associated with the victim,” she added.
Police sources stated that Alam had been serving as a teacher at the school since 2006 and was well-regarded in the local community. Preliminary inquiries suggest that he had no known enmity or disputes.
“We have informed the family members and are awaiting their arrival for further details. School staff and nearby residents have also been questioned,” said an investigating officer.
Raids and vehicle checks have been launched in the region to trace the killers. Authorities are hoping that more information from the victim’s family and mobile data analysis will help uncover the motive behind the murder.
