Tej Pratap Breaks Silence, Welcomes New Nephew as Mamata Banerjee Congratulates Tejashwi

Patna/Kolkata: RJD president Lalu Prasad became a grandfather for the second time on Tuesday, after his younger son, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, and daughter-in-law Rajshri Yadav welcomed a baby boy at a hospital in Kolkata. The joyous occasion has brought celebration to the entire Yadav family, with senior members including Lalu, former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi, and Rajya Sabha MP Misa Bharti present in the city to mark the moment.

While Tejashwi’s sisters took to social media to share their excitement over the arrival of their nephew, his elder brother, Tej Pratap Yadav, who had remained publicly silent following recent controversy, broke his silence on Tuesday afternoon. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Tej Pratap wrote, “With the infinite grace and blessings of Shri Banke Bihari Ji, I have got the privilege of becoming an elder father (uncle) with the arrival of the newborn… Heartiest congratulations and best wishes to younger brother Tejashwi Prasad Yadav and Rajshri Yadav… My affectionate blessings and love to the nephew.”

This marked Tej Pratap’s first public reaction since his expulsion from both the party and family, as announced by his father Lalu on Sunday following the circulation of viral photos and videos with a woman named Anushka Yadav. His post was widely interpreted as an attempt to extend an olive branch and reconnect with his family.

The celebration also drew high-profile visitors. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited the hospital to congratulate Tejashwi and Rajshri and personally offered her blessings to the newborn. She later met Lalu and Rabri Devi and extended warm wishes to the family on the occasion of their grandson’s birth.
