Patna: Tej Pratap Yadav, the estranged elder son of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, has adopted a defiant stance days after being expelled from the party and family following a controversial photo with Anushka Yadav that surfaced on May 24.

On a visit to his assembly constituency Mahua, Tej Pratap arrived without the RJD flag on his vehicle. Instead, he displayed a new green and yellow flag, signalling a potential political rebranding and distancing from his former party.

Speaking to reporters, Yadav dismissed the disciplinary action taken against him. “I will not be under anyone’s control,” he said. “My decisions will now be guided solely by the will of the people.”

He was in Mahua to inspect the site of a proposed medical college – a key poll promise made during his campaign. “We had committed to providing a medical college here. That promise has been fulfilled. Next, we aim to bring an engineering college to the region,” he added, presenting himself as a leader driven by public welfare rather than party allegiance.

When asked about his future political path, Yadav remained non-committal about joining or forming a new party. “I will contest elections from wherever the people want. Which party I will represent is a matter for later,” he said.
