Patna: Former Bihar minister Tej Pratap Yadav, currently out on bail in the land-for-jobs scam case, has posted a video from the Maldives that shows him meditating by the sea, prompting a mix of admiration and satire from social media users.
The one-minute, twenty-one second video shared on his official Instagram account shows Yadav sitting in a meditative posture at a beachfront resort cottage, dressed in black shorts, a shirt, and a cap. The serene clip features the chant of “Om Namah Shivaya” in the background.
In his accompanying caption, written in English, Tej Pratap wrote: “Peace is very important in life. Without it, life becomes chaotic… The sound of running water has amazing power. It reminds us of the stillness of nature… It inspires us to be in harmony with ourselves and the things around us.”
The post quickly attracted attention, not just for its aesthetic but also for Yadav’s polished English. One user quipped, “First tell me who wrote such amazing English,” while another sarcastically commented, “Teju Bhaiya is the one who can meditate on the beach in Thailand.” Others questioned the timing of his vacation, writing, “Brother, you are living life. The rest of us are just passing days.”
Yadav, son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, had obtained permission from Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court to travel to the Maldives from May 17 to 23. He is one of several accused in the land-for-jobs case and had been granted bail on March 11, on a bond of Rs 50,000.
