Tejashwi Hits Back at Shah’s Accusations on Bihar Caste Survey; Calls for Nationwide Caste Census
Patna: Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister and de-facto leader of the RJD, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, has issued a firm response to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s allegations that the Nitish Kumar government manipulated the population data for Muslim and Yadav communities in the recent caste survey in Bihar for “appeasement politics.” Tejashwi challenged Shah, suggesting that if he doubts the accuracy of Bihar’s caste survey, the Narendra Modi government at the Centre could conduct a nationwide caste census to ascertain the real figures.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an event organized by the RJD in Patna, marking the closing ceremony of the birth anniversary fortnight of Bihar’s first chief minister, Shri Krishna Singh, Tejashwi said: “I listened to Amit Shah’s statement. He mentioned that in the caste-based survey, the numbers for Yadavs and Muslims have risen while those for other communities have declined. I would like to emphasize that if the survey is inaccurate, then why not conduct a caste census nationwide? What is preventing you from doing so?”
During his address at the event, Tejashwi celebrated the legacy of Shri Krishna Singh, highlighting his significant contributions to Bihar’s development, including groundbreaking decisions such as allowing Dalits entry into temples and the abolition of the Zamindari system.
Tejashwi lures Bhumihar community
Tejashwi emphasized the inclusive nature of the RJD, describing it as a party for all. He expressed a desire for the Bhumihar community to stand with the RJD, stating that the community had received its due recognition. He cited the allocation of five seats to the Bhumihar community in the Legislative Council elections, with three candidates emerging victorious.
Attack on Modi government
Tejashwi encouraged the audience to focus on progress and unity, irrespective of religious or caste considerations. He also aimed at the Modi government, criticizing its job creation efforts and characterizing its politics as artificial and deceptive.
He urged the public to evaluate the performance of the government in power for the past five years and consider whether it has addressed unemployment, improved education, and enhanced economic conditions. Tejashwi further discussed his commitment to truth and his readiness to confront challenges from investigative agencies, highlighting his determination to fight and succeed.
RJD State President Jagdanand Singh, who presided over the function, paid tribute to Shri Krishna Singh’s role in the freedom struggle and his contributions to Bihar’s development. He emphasized that Shri Krishna Singh’s legacy serves as a model for Bihar’s modern development and a rich heritage for all.
