Patna: Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly and RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Thursday called on party workers to intensify their outreach across villages with the message that the Nitish Kumar-led government must be uprooted in the 2025 Assembly elections. Speaking at a workers’ conference organised by the RJD’s Panchayati Raj Cell at the party’s state headquarters, Tejashwi said the time had come to take the party’s ideology and agenda directly to the grassroots.

“The government at the Centre has been in power for 11 years, and in Bihar, the NDA has ruled for 20. Yet, Bihar remains among the poorest states, with low per capita income,” Yadav said. “It’s a government of bureaucrats, not the people. Elected representatives in panchayats are being threatened and silenced.”

Paying tribute to those killed in the Pahalgam terror attack, Tejashwi opened his address by offering condolences and emphasising national unity in the face of terrorism. “The loss in Pahalgam has shaken the nation. We stand with the families of the victims,” he said.

Rallying his supporters, the RJD leader urged them to carry forward the legacy and vision of party president Lalu Prasad and push the RJD’s initiatives like the Mai Behan Samman Yojana among the public. “We don’t have much time. Reach the people, spread the word, and prepare for change,” he said.

The event also saw the presence of senior RJD leaders including Abdul Bari Siddiqui, MP Sanjay Yadav, and several others, who echoed the need for a ground-level movement to challenge the incumbent government in the upcoming polls.
