Tender Issued for Digha-Koilwar Ganga Path in Bihar

A tender has been issued to build the Digha-Sherpur-Koilwar Ganga Path, which will improve travel but include toll charges

Patna: The Bihar government has issued a tender to build the Digha-Sherpur-Koilwar Ganga Path, a major new road project in the state. The road will be about 35.65 km long, with 18 km as an elevated stretch over the Ganga river and 17.65 km at ground level. This four-lane expressway is expected to make travel faster and easier for people in the region.

The project will cost around Rs 5,544 crore. Officials said a pre-bid meeting with construction agencies will be held on July 7. Agencies can submit their tenders by July 28, and the final selection will be made on July 29. This is the first time Bihar is using the hybrid NUT model to build such a project.

The new road will connect Digha near JP Ganga Setu to the Koilwar bridge over the Son river. It will also link Danapur, Shahpur, and Bihta market, making travel to Delhi from Buxar via the Purvanchal Expressway easier. However, people will have to pay toll tax to use this expressway.

Construction will take about four years to complete. During this time, the government will pay 40% of the cost to the selected agency, which will also maintain the road for 15 years after completion. Once ready, it will connect important bridges like Digha Setu, Sherpur-Dighwara Setu, Koilwar Setu, Veer Kunwar Singh Ara-Chhapra Setu, Janeshwar Mishra Setu, and Buxar Setu, improving Bihar’s road network.
