Tender Issued for Large-Scale Development of Punauradham Janaki Birthplace Site in Bihar

Patna: The Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation (BSTDC) has issued a tender for the large-scale development of Punauradham, regarded as the birthplace of Goddess Janaki (Sita), located in the Sitamarhi district. The redevelopment is envisioned in the mould of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirtha Kshetra in Ayodhya, aiming to transform the site into a major spiritual and tourist destination under the Ramayana Circuit.

The tender process, which invites both national and international construction firms, will officially open on July 11. A pre-bid meeting is scheduled for July 24, and the final submission deadline is 3pm on August 7. The tenders will be opened on August 8, after which the selection process will be completed by the competent authorities. The appointed agency will be required to finish all construction and development work within 42 months.

The project follows the Bihar state cabinet’s recent approval of a Rs 882.87 crore plan for the holistic development of the site. The proposed work includes the upgrading of the existing temple complex (Parkota), new construction works, tourist infrastructure, and a ten-year post-completion operations and management plan. The entire initiative will be implemented under an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) model.
