Patna: Patna is reeling under a wave of violence as yet another shooting incident late Tuesday night in the Mainpura locality of Patliputra resulted in the death of one man and serious injuries to another. This marks the third straight day of murders in the Bihar capital, escalating fears among residents.
The two individuals, both with reported criminal backgrounds, were shot by unidentified assailants. One succumbed to injuries during treatment, while the other remains hospitalised at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH). Police have launched a manhunt but have yet to identify or apprehend the attackers.
The incident comes on the heels of a brutal double murder in Bikram on Monday night, where two men were shot in the head multiple times near Guerilla Sthan. The victims, Sonu Kumar, 30, and Roshan, 25, were both facing charges in a 2023 murder case. Their bodies, discovered riddled with bullets, sparked widespread shock in the community.
Just hours before that, a mother and daughter were gunned down in their home in the Alamganj area on Monday morning. The father, also injured in the attack, is undergoing treatment. A video of the incident shows the attackers armed and unmasked, deepening public outrage and anxiety.
As violence spirals, questions are being raised about law enforcement’s ability to respond. The spate of killings has created a climate of fear in Patna, with locals demanding swift action and greater police visibility.
Investigations are ongoing in all three cases. Authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward.
