Thousands Gather for Mahaarati at Triveni Sangam, Praying for World Peace

Bagaha: A grand celebration unfolded at Triveni Sangam, located on the India-Nepal border near Bagaha, as thousands of devotees congregated for the 138th Narayani Gandaki Mahaarati. Held on the auspicious occasion of Paush Purnima, the event drew worshippers from both nations to the historic Kamleshwar Dham, united in their prayers for global peace.

A Sacred Confluence

Triveni Sangam, often likened to Prayagraj’s confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati, is the meeting point of the Tamrabhadra, Sonbhadra, and Narayani rivers. On this significant day, devotees arrived in large numbers to participate in rituals that included a holy dip in the confluence. It is believed that such a bath purifies the soul and brings blessings.

Following the traditional cleansing, devotees lit thousands of lamps and performed aarti for Ganga Maiyya and Narayani Maiyya. The air resonated with chants of “Ganga Maiyya ki Jai” and “Paush Purnima ki Jai,” creating a spiritual ambience that left a profound impact on participants.

A Spectacle of Devotion

As dusk fell, the site was transformed into a radiant hub of faith, with the glow of countless lamps reflecting off the water. The atmosphere was electric with devotion, underscoring the event’s significance not just as a religious ritual but as a celebration of shared heritage.

“This tradition binds us in faith and humanity,” said a member of the organizing committee. “It’s a reminder of the values that connect the people of India and Nepal, transcending borders.”

Preserving Heritage for Future Generations

Organizers emphasized the importance of sustaining this tradition, aiming to make it more grand and inclusive in the coming years. They expressed hope that future generations would recognize the cultural and spiritual significance of Triveni Sangam.

The Narayani Gandaki Mahaarati has grown into a symbol of unity, fostering religious, cultural, and social ties between the two nations. Its enduring message of peace and humanity continues to inspire devotees and visitors alike.
