Three-Day Rajgir Festival Begins to Celebrate Culture and Heritage in Bihar
Rajgir: The three-day Rajgir Festival was inaugurated at the State Guest House Ground in Rajgir by Rural Development Minister Shravan Kumar, MP Kaushalendra Kumar, MLC Reena Yadav, Rajgir MLA Kaushal Kishore, Asthawan MLA Jitendra Kumar, and other public representatives and officials. The festival, organized to promote Rajgir’s rich religious and cultural traditions, will continue until December 23.
In his inaugural address, Shravan Kumar highlighted the historical significance of Rajgir and its traditions. He praised the arrangements made by the tourism department, emphasizing that the festival has been instrumental in increasing tourist footfall. He also credited Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for introducing better facilities in Rajgir, moving it toward becoming a global tourist destination. Recent developments, such as an international hockey championship and the potential for cricket matches, were also mentioned. Kumar noted the presence of government department stalls providing information about various schemes.
MP Kaushalendra Kumar spoke about efforts to revive Rajgir’s history, including initiatives like bringing Ganga water to Rajgir, starting the zoo and nature safari, and plans for an airport and a five-star hotel. MLA Kaushal Kishore underlined the government’s dedication to developing Rajgir as a tourism hub, reflected in the growing number of visitors.
Asthawan MLA Jitendra Kumar reminded the audience of Rajgir’s spiritual importance, being a place visited by the founders of various religions. He urged people to follow the teachings of peace and unity. The program featured addresses from other guests, with Nalanda District Officer Shashank Shubhankar welcoming them and Tourism Director Vinay Kumar Rai delivering the vote of thanks.
