Thunderstorms, Rain and Gusty Winds Likely in Parts of Bihar From April 7–10

Patna: Bihar is set for a spell of unstable weather over the coming days, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting scattered rainfall, thunderstorms and gusty winds in parts of the state through the first half of April. Despite the stormy outlook, no significant change in temperatures is expected during this period.

The Patna Meteorological Centre reports that a cyclonic circulation is currently active over Northeast Assam, while a western disturbance is poised to impact the Western Himalayan region on April 8. These systems are likely to trigger light rainfall across parts of Northeast Bihar, South Central Bihar, and Southeast Bihar—including Patna—between April 7 and 10.

Yellow Alert Issued for Multiple Districts

A yellow alert has been issued for April 7 and 8 in several districts, including Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Madhepura, Saharsa, Purnia, Katihar, and parts of Bhagalpur, Banka, Jamui, Munger and Khagaria. These areas are expected to witness thunderstorms accompanied by rain and westerly winds blowing at speeds of 40–50 km per hour.

Officials have advised residents in the affected regions to remain cautious, especially in open areas and under temporary structures, as gusty winds could pose risks.

Temperatures Remain Steady Despite Rain

On Friday, the state capital Patna experienced partly cloudy skies with a maximum temperature of 37.6°C. Gopalganj recorded the highest temperature in the state at 39.2°C.

Barring a few districts—Bhojpur, Sasaram, Aurangabad, Arwal, Sheikhpura, Munger, Jamui and Banka—most areas, including Patna, saw a slight rise in daytime temperatures.

Despite the forecasted rainfall, meteorologists say no significant drop in temperature is expected in the coming days. The warm conditions are likely to persist across the state, keeping the early April heat in play.
