Ticket to Chaos: Pantry Car Manager’s Scuffle With RPF Derails Train Schedule in Samastipur Showdown
SAMSTIPUR: An incident took place at Samastipur Junction in Bihar on Tuesday night, when the Assistant Manager of the Pantry Car aboard the Swatantrata Senani Express, operating from Jaynagar to New Delhi was accused of facilitating unauthorized travel in exchange for money.
The ordeal led to a physical altercation with the Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel, including alleged misbehaviour towards a female constable. The incident resulted in the temporary stoppage of the train and a case registered against all involved parties.
The chaos erupted when two passengers were apprehended for traveling without valid tickets inside the Pantry Car Coach of the Swatantrata Senani Express. In response, the Assistant Manager not only used foul language but also physically pushed and shoved the RPF escort team, including a female constable. This incident took place at Samastipur Junction, causing a 10-minute delay in the train’s schedule.
Upon receiving the information, RPF Inspector Ved Prakash Verma and his team promptly arrived at the scene. The Pantry Car employees were escorted off the train.
The origins of the incident can be traced back to when the RPF team was responsible for escorting the Swatantrata Senani Express. While the train was in transit, the RPF’s female constable began inquiring about two individuals in plain clothes who were found in the pantry car. The unauthorized passengers were later identified as Krishna Jha and Raghav Kumar. They were caught for illicit travel in the pantry car, leading to a tussle between them and the RPF team.
As the train reached platform number one at Samastipur Junction, a commotion broke out when individuals claiming to be the managers and assistant managers of the Pantry Car intervened. They used foul language towards the RPF personnel and forcibly rescued the unauthorized passengers. This drew the attention of other Pantry Car employees, who vehemently protested against the RPF’s actions.
The RPF team promptly contacted the RPF post at Samastipur Junction to report the situation. A subsequent confrontation between the RPF team and Pantry Car staff ensued.
At one point, the assistant manager of the Pantry Car threatened to disembark at Samastipur station, further delaying the train’s departure. Eventually, the Pantry Car personnel left the train.
The two unauthorized passengers were brought to the RPF post, and at 9:03 PM, the assistant manager allegedly initiated chain pulling, causing a 10-minute delay in the train’s schedule.
