Patna: The Transport Secretary, Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, conducted a comprehensive review of the department’s schemes and operations through video conferencing with the District Transport Officer, RTA Secretary, ADTO, MVI, and ESI of all districts. The focus was on several key areas, including the construction of bus stops, the development of driving testing tracks, road accident compensation, permit issuance, and mobile number updates.
As per the state government’s new notification, vehicle owners with BH numbers are now required to pay taxes for 14 years during vehicle registration. Agarwal emphasized that those who previously paid taxes for only two years must complete the remaining payments within the stipulated period. Failure to comply will result in fines.
He also directed officials to ensure timely completion of all departmental schemes, warning that delays would lead to fixing responsibility on the concerned officers. Inadequate progress in any project would result in action against those accountable.
Agarwal instructed that public announcements be made across districts to encourage vehicle owners to update their mobile numbers in the vehicle registration records. District Transport Offices will also facilitate the mobile number updating process.
The application deadline for the Chief Minister Gram Parivahan Yojana has been extended by one more week, beyond the earlier deadline of 27 September 2024. This extension aims to ensure that more eligible beneficiaries can apply and benefit from the scheme.
The Transport Secretary also stressed taking immediate action against vehicles operating without permits. In case of an accident involving such vehicles, the RTA Secretary will be held responsible for any negligence.
