Travelling Abroad Made Easier with Passport and Visa Facilities in Sitamarhi

Sitamarhi: Travelling abroad from Sitamarhi has become simpler and more convenient. Residents can now apply for passports and visas through the main post office located in Dumra, the district headquarters. The entire process, from document verification to application submission, can now be completed locally without the need to visit Patna.

The introduction of online systems has significantly streamlined the process. Earlier, manual data for passport processing had to be sent to Patna, causing delays. Now, the data is transmitted online, ensuring faster processing. Since the initiation of passport-related work in the district, the number of applicants has been steadily increasing.

A visa, essential for legal entry into another country, can now also be applied for at the Dumra post office. This service started on 11 November 2024, and 30 applications have been received so far. Previously, police clearance for visas was handled in Patna, but now it is processed locally within one to two days, expediting the procedure.

According to Passport Office in-charge Priyaranjan Kumar, the government has set the fee for creating or renewing a passport at Rs. 1500. All fees are submitted online, further simplifying the process for applicants. The ease of completing these formalities locally has made international travel more accessible for Sitamarhi residents.
