Tributes Pour in at Mahavir Mandir for Former IPS Officer Kishore Kunal

Patna: Acharya Kishore Kunal, a renowned social reformer and former IPS officer, passed away on December 29, morning at the age of 74. He suffered a cardiac arrest and was admitted to Mahavir Vatsalya Hospital late at night, where he succumbed to his illness.

Kunal, a 1972 batch (Gujarat cadre) IPS officer, had a distinguished career in public service. He later dedicated his life to social and religious causes, serving as the Secretary of the Mahavir Mandir Trust.

A Life of Service and Dedication

Born in Kothiya village in Muzaffarpur, Kunal completed his schooling in Baruraj village and graduated in History and Sanskrit from Patna University. He joined the Indian Police Service in 1972 and served as Deputy Commissioner of Police in Ahmedabad in 1978. He was also known for his deep knowledge of Sanskrit.

After retiring from the police force in 2000, he served as the Vice Chancellor of KSD Sanskrit University in Darbhanga until 2004. He then dedicated himself to social and religious activities, assuming the role of Administrator of the Bihar State Religious Trust Board.

Leaders from across the political spectrum expressed their grief at the demise of Acharya Kishore Kunal. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar described him as an efficient administrator and a sensitive officer who dedicated his life to social and religious service. RJD leaders Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi also expressed their condolences.

Acharya Kishore Kunal’s contributions to society will be long remembered. His life was a testament to service and dedication to the betterment of society.
