Trishul is Our Pride: Giriraj Singh Responds with Symbolic Message Post-Begusarai Attack

Patna: Union Minister Giriraj Singh has posted a photo on social media showing a Trishul (trident) symbol on his wrist, following an attack on him in Begusarai on Saturday. The minister accompanied the image with a message stating, “The Trishul is our pride and self-respect. When we protect the trident, it will protect us in return. It is our duty to safeguard our religion.”

The incident occurred as Giriraj was leaving a public hearing event in Begusarai’s Balia block. The attacker, identified as Shahjaduzzama, a local ward councillor and member of the Aam Aadmi Party, reportedly began shouting slogans against Giriraj. When police intervened to stop him, he attempted to punch the minister.

Reflecting on the attack, Giriraj remarked, “The way he attacked me, if he had a revolver in his hand, he would have killed me.”

The public hearing event had been organised to address local grievances, and Giriraj had responded to several questions posed by Shahjaduzzama before the attack occurred. Fortunately, the minister’s security team managed to protect him, and the assailant was subsequently subdued by the crowd and handed over to the police. Authorities have detained Shahjaduzzama and are currently questioning him about the incident.
