Patna: Rail traffic and road movement in Mokama, Barh were briefly disrupted on Monday morning after a truck forcibly entered through the eastern railway gate, striking and damaging the height gauge.
The incident occurred at around 5:30 am, when the speeding truck collided with the height restriction structure, causing its collapse. Gautam Kumar, the on-duty gateman, confirmed that the truck forcefully crossed the gate despite warnings.
Railway Protection Force (RPF) officials immediately detained the driver and seized the vehicle. Ashok Moldiyar, the station manager at Mokama, reached the scene promptly to assess the situation. Repairs to the height gauge were completed by 7:50 am, restoring normalcy to train operations. However, traffic on the busy Mokama Bazaar road remained affected during the repair period.
This marks the second such incident in the past one-and-a-half months, raising concerns over recurring safety violations. As a precaution, authorities have temporarily suspended the movement of heavy vehicles through the gate.
A crowd of onlookers gathered at the site following the crash. Railway officials have not reported any injuries.
