Mahatma Gandhi’s Great Grandson Expelled from Meeting in Bihar’s Motihari After Endorsing Mahagathbandhan

Motihari/Patna: Tushar Gandhi, great-grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, faced a dramatic confrontation in Bihar’s Motihari on Sunday, where he was expelled from a public meeting following a heated exchange with a local village leader.
Gandhi, who is on a “Badlaav Yatra” (March for Change) through Bihar, had arrived in Turkaulia as part of his tour that began at Bhitiharwa Ashram on July 12. During his address at the Turkaulia Panchayat Bhawan, he spoke about the need for political change in Bihar, indirectly expressing support for the opposition Grand Alliance.
His remarks appeared to infuriate the local mukhiya (village head), Vinay Kumar Sah, who objected strongly to the political tone of Gandhi’s speech. Eyewitnesses said Sah engaged in a verbal altercation with Gandhi, demanding he leave the venue. Despite efforts from local residents to mediate, the dispute escalated, and Gandhi was effectively forced out of the meeting.
Tushar Gandhi later responded to the incident, stating: “We were called rude and insulted, but we are not afraid. Our journey for change in Bihar will continue.”
Tensions reportedly rose further when an associate accompanying Gandhi openly criticised the Nitish Kumar government and called for political change, triggering Sah’s anger.
