Two Accused Shot in Separate Police Encounters in Patna District

Police encounters in Khusrupur and Danapur leave two suspects injured after exchange of fire.

Patna: Two suspects sustained gunshot injuries in separate police encounters in the Khusrupur and Danapur areas of Patna district, authorities confirmed on Friday. Both incidents occurred after the accused reportedly opened fire on police personnel during custody-related operations.

In the Khusrupur case, Angesh Kumar—allegedly involved in over a dozen criminal cases including attempted murder, robbery, and violations of the Arms Act—was arrested during a police raid led by the station house officer. According to police, Kumar later attempted to escape by firing at officers while being taken to potential recovery sites for looted goods and weapons. In retaliatory fire, he was shot and injured. He is currently receiving treatment at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH).

In a separate incident in Danapur, another suspect, who had earlier surrendered in connection with a murder investigation, fired two to three rounds at police from the weapon used in the crime while being escorted for evidence recovery. The accused was shot in the leg during retaliatory firing and is also being treated at PMCH, where his condition is said to be critical. First Information Reports (FIRs) have been filed in both cases, and forensic teams have been deployed to the respective sites to gather evidence.

Speaking to the press, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Avkash Kumar confirmed both encounters. “Accused Angesh Kumar has multiple criminal cases registered against him, and the Danapur accused also has a known criminal history. Both incidents are under thorough investigation,” he said.
