Two-day construction conclave workshop begins at IIT Patna

Patna: The two-day Construction Conclave Workshop, focusing on advanced practices in steel and construction, was inaugurated at IIT Patna. Key figures in the event included Prof. T. N. Singh, Director of IIT Patna; Dr. Anup K. Kesari, Associate Dean of R&D; Dr. Vaibhav Singhal, Workshop Convenor; Dr. Amit K. Verma, HoD of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE); Amit Pandey, Head of Sales for the East Region at Tata Steel Limited; Nitin Kishorepuria, Managing Director of BMW Ventures Limited; and Dr. Sourav Gur, Workshop Co-convenor.
The workshop, held on October 18-19, 2024, brings together industry leaders, academic experts, and young professionals to explore modern construction practices. The opening ceremony featured a traditional lamp lighting and a soulful Saraswati Vandana. A moment of silence was also observed in honor of Late Ratan Tata, recognizing his significant contributions to the construction industry.
Organized in collaboration with Tata Steel Limited, the workshop includes technical sessions and practical demonstrations on critical topics such as Seismic-Resistant Design, Geotechnical Investigation, and Dynamic Analysis of Reinforced Concrete Buildings. The agenda highlights hands-on learning opportunities aimed at addressing contemporary challenges in construction.
In his address, Prof. T. N. Singh highlighted the importance of steel consumption as a measure of societal progress. He called for the adoption of advanced materials, especially those with a strength grade of 2000 mega pascals, to meet modern construction demands. “This workshop provides an essential platform for learning and collaboration,” he said, emphasizing the importance of quality control in driving progress in the field.
Participants will also visit IIT Patna’s advanced laboratories, where they will witness live demonstrations of RC beam testing, rebar strength analysis, and structural performance assessments. These practical sessions are designed to offer insight into the latest innovations and testing methods in the industry.
The Construction Conclave Workshop is expected to foster meaningful dialogue and collaboration, helping professionals stay ahead in the rapidly evolving construction sector. It offers an environment for growth, innovation, and the sharing of knowledge, benefiting all attendees.
