Two New Flight Pairs to Operate From Darbhanga Airport, 20 Aircraft to Operate From April 4

Darbhanga/ Patna: Air travel in north Bihar is set to receive a boost as Darbhanga Airport prepares to introduce two new pairs of flights from April 4, bringing the total number of flights to 20.
Currently, the airport operates eight pairs of flights through SpiceJet and IndiGo. The expansion will see Aakash Airlines begin operations on the Delhi and Mumbai routes, after securing a slot for these services.
Darbhanga MP and chairman of the Darbhanga Airport Advisory Committee, Dr Gopal Ji Thakur, welcomed the development, stating that the increase in flights would improve connectivity and help reduce airfares. He also reiterated plans to upgrade Darbhanga Airport to international standards, with 90 acres of land already acquired for expansion.
Dr Thakur recently met the newly appointed airport director, Mohammad Nazim, and discussed ongoing infrastructure projects. During an inspection, airport officials had proposed the construction of a foot overbridge (FOB), an elevated road, and a service road to improve access from the national highway. The MP emphasised the need to accelerate these works to enhance passenger convenience.
